Acai Bowl

Let's be honest... who doesn't love a delectable Acai Bowl? In the last few years, acai bowls have become super popular, trending the Instagram game hard & effectively advocating for a plant-based meal. Not only swooned over for their delicious taste, but also their aesthetically pleasing presentations have allowed for some serious creativity to shine. Unfortunately though, these masterpieces can leave a dent in your wallet! What most people don't realize is just how simple it is to make your own at home & for a fraction of the price! 

Most bowls that I've purchased are usually blended with some kind of fruit juice, be it apple or pineapple. Personally though, I like to stick with my Coconut Water, eliminating an excess amount of sugar. The base for most of my smoothies & bowls is generally the same. I like to incorporate both flax & chia seeds to help aid with my digestion & sneak in some extra nutrients! I'm one of those people that could eat the same meal for weeks on end & be perfectly content. While I know that many other people don't find this type of diet to be pleasing or exciting, I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't feel the benefits on a daily basis.

For the first twenty-three years of my life, I don't think I ever felt connected to my body, save for pre-pubescent innocence. Coming from someone who used to abuse herself in numerous ways, finding that mind/body/soul connection has been without a doubt the biggest blessing in my life thus far. I wake up each morning with energy & appreciation for the day as well as myself. By nourishing myself with whole, plant-based foods, & being conscious of the foods I consume, I know when something is off. It's been years since I've been super sick or have had any sort of inexplicable discomfort. I used to wake up in the mornings dreading the day and always feeling like absolute crap. I'm so grateful to now be in tune with how my body regulates itself & truthfully, just to be aware of how good we are meant to feel! The human body is an incredible mechanism... don't ever doubt that!

This recipe is for an Acai bowl base that is sure to get your digestive track moving & grooving, while also satisfying any sweet tooth cravings you may encounter!

Acai Bowl

Serves 1

1 C Organic Coconut Water

1 Pkg Frozen Acai

1 ½ Frozen Banana

1 Tbsp. Chia Seeds

1 Tbsp. Flax Seeds

1 Scoop Vegan Vanilla Sun Warrior Protein

*Blend all ingredients in a high speeds blender & top with fresh fruit, nuts & seeds!
