Spirulina & Blueberry Smoothie

I was first introduced to Spirulina Powder a couple of years back. My mother tells the story of the first time she & my brother tried it, but failed to read the suggested serving size. Typically speaking, 1 tsp of this superfood is more than enough, but she & my brother opted for about a 1/4 C & like champions, tried their best to finish their smoothies. For those of you that are unfamiliar with this powder, Spirulina is a micro algae that is one of the oldest life forms on Earth. Loaded with trace minerals, essential & non-essential amino acids, Spirulina is known to boost energy & immunity as well as support cardiovascular, eye & brain health. Since transitioning to a plant-based diet almost exactly two years ago, this product has become essential in my diet!

My favorite way to incorporate Spirulina into my meals in by adding a tsp into my smoothies! This recipe is super simple & always leaves me feeling satiated!

Spirulina & Blueberry Smoothie

2 C Organic Coconut Water

1 tsp. Spirulina Powder

2 Tbsp. Chia Seeds

2 Tbsp. Flax Seeds

1 Tbsp. Hemp Seeds

1 ½ Frozen Bananas

½ C Frozen Blueberries

1 Scoop Vegan Vanilla Sun Warrior Protein

Handful of Ice

*Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender & enjoy!
